CUSTOM AREA & STREET LIGHTING

Case Study: Queensland Rail path and black spot lighting

Queensland Rail. A Black Spot & busy walkway/bikeway behind the Chinchilla Qld Visitors centre, crossing the rail way line has applied solar lighting to increase safety.

Due to the distance from mains electricity, stand alone solar lighting was the most cost effective solution. The optimum lighting design to achieve the AS/NZS 1158 P4 was for 14 Beta LEDway 30s mounted at a six meter mounting height. Swing poles were specified to allow easy access to the solar panels.

Two temporary solar lights were erected at either side of the crossing to provide safety light immediately, while the permanent light poles were being manufactured. When the permanent lights were installed, the two temporary solar lights were relocated to another QR National site.
